Take a look how pretty these pinwheel pastries are: flaky, light and extra crispy at the edges. Filled with lemony and zesty cream cheese filling and topped with fresh berries.

Simply irresistible!

These cream cheese and berry pinwheel pastries are all you look for in a quick and light dessert.

They are super yummy, especially if you're anything like me and just love desserts with cream filling, fresh fruit over a flaky and perfectly crispy pastry.

Great for breakfast, snack or dessert.

So easy to make and so pretty that are a great idea for parties. A sure way to impress your guests!

The best part about this recipe: I use store-bought  Jus Rol Puff Pastry which is super convenient. It's refrigerated (so no wasting time to defrost), pre-rolled and comes already on parchment paper.
It's made with top quality ingredients.
And best of all, makes incredible desserts with very little effort. Every, single, time!

I've used this puff pastries in several other recipes recently.
Oh I'm sure you remember the deliciously flaky Millefoglie!!

 Can't forget about that one.

Make sure to check out my video recipe to see how I cut the pastry to get these pretty pinwheels!

I love this cream cheese filling flavored with vanilla extract and lemon zest. It's easy to make and perfectly combines with the berries.

If you don't want to use cream cheese, there are alternatives like ricotta (in the same amount). OR you can skip the cream cheese and just add extra jam.

I used strawberry jam, which is what I had available. But you can also use blueberry or raspberry jam (not a big fan of the tiny seeds in the raspberry jam). Or any other fruit really - four fruit, cherry, fig ... your choice!

Ready to try it too?!?

Simple and quick to make, yet so impressive and delicious. These pinwheel pastries with fresh berries and cream cheese filling come together in minutes and taste super delicious

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet 13.2 oz (375 gr) puff pastry
  • 4 oz (115 gr) cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons (25 gr) sugar
  • 1/2 lemon, finely grated zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 teaspoons strawberry jam (or your favorite fruit)
  • 4 or 5 raspberries or blueberries per pastry
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon sparkling sugar
  • powdered sugar, to decorate

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F (200C). In a medium bowl, add the cream cheese, sugar, finely grated lemon zest, and vanilla extract. Whisk to combine.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 6 squares (5 inches side). Pipe (or spoon) some of the lemon cream cheese mixture into the center of each square. Top with some jam. Place 4 raspberries (or blueberries) around the cream cheese.
  3. Using a pointy knife cut each corner halfway : starting from the corner and cut toward the middle to the edge of the cream cheese filling (not under the filling). Fold alternating corners to the center of the square to make the pinwheel. Top with a tiny bit more jam or a berry to secure. Brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with sparkling sugar (optional).
  4. Bake for about 18 minutes or until golden brown and puffy. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy!
