Now, let's talk about the recipe for a minute. These mummies are super easy and quick to make. You are welcome to use the microwave to melt the butter together with the marshmallows, but I recommend using your stove and a big pan. The melted butter browns a little when cooking with the marshmallows and it will add a little extra buttery flavor to these treats.
Here is the recipe for you!INGREDIENTS:
Yield: 8 bars
-
- 4 cups Kellogg's Corn Pops Cereal
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 5 oz. marshmallows
- 10 oz. white chocolate melting wafers
- 16 googly eyes (or more if you cut in smaller size bars)
PREPARATION:
TIME: about 30 minutes
Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, or grease with butter.
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
Lower the heat to medium, add the marshmallows and stir continuously until melted.
Remove from the heat and add the Kellogg's Corn Pops and stir quickly until nicely coated.
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Spread out as well as you can. Place another piece of parchment paper on top, press down firmly to pack well and make it as even as you can.
Let cool down. With a sharp knife cut into bars. I made 8 rectangles, but you're welcome to shape as you wish.
Place the white melting wafers in a bowl or dish with flat bottom. Melt following the instructions on the package. I microwaved on half power for 45 seconds. Wisk well until smooth and melted.
Dip half of the bars in the chocolate. I used a spatula to spread it and removed the excess chocolate.
You don't need to coat the bottom, and don't worry if it's not perfectly covered with chocolate.
Place on parchment paper. Add the googly eyes when still wet.
Place the leftover melted chocolate in a piping or plastic bag. Cut a tiny corner and pipe the mummy making random lines across the treats. There is no need to be precise. Let dry until set, about 20 minutes.
Store in an air tight container, and best if eaten within a day.
